![]() I just wanted to point out that you can also get this information (if you needed it in the future), but keep in mind that the two-digit code will have to be deciphered in order to know what your rear axle ratio is. The certification label can be found if you open your driver side door and look on the door pillar.Īxle Code: The actual code is also listed at the bottom of the certification label, but is not needed for these vehicles in order to figure out what your maximum trailer weight rating is. You will find this information on the certification label, which I have an example of what one looks like posted above and towards the top of this label you will find these two specifications. If you happen to be looking for the gross vehicle weight rating specifications or even the gross axle weight rating specifications, then you will not find them in any of the online literature because they are listed on the vehicle itself. I also have a 16 foot long boat with 50hp engine and a personal watercraft and the included trailer which is much lighter than the boat so I should be safely within the towing limits of 2000 pounds since my Escape is lacking the factory tow package.GCWR, GVWR & GAWRs: The gross combined weight ratings were specified in the chart, like they always are for most Ford vehicles and it made finding those figures very easy. The trailers carrying payload is rated at 1900lbs according to the trailer manufacturer load sticker. My 2 sleds have a combined weight of about 1100lbs plus the trailer itself is at least 1000lbs when empty. Or is there additional hardware too such as a heavy duty transmission cooler or upgraded brake componets like some towing packages add. Is the major difference with the Factory Towing package the addition of electronic sway control?. ![]() My Escape Titanium 4WD is not equiped with the factory towing package and I purchased an after market class 3 (7500lbs) Hidden hitch but the Escape only has a class 2 towing max of 3500 lbs with the Factory towing package dispite the hitches rating. I bought a used 2013 2.0 liter Ford Escape Titanium 4WD last fall and I have towed my aluminum 10 foot x 6 foot 8 inch wide heavy duty utility trailer with a bifold tailgate with 2 snowmobiles on it all the way from central Minnesota up north of Grand Marias and the Escape handled this load really well. I get alot of funny looks and laughs but it works awesome. Most folks here think they need a diesel 3500 to pull what I do. I was concerned it wouldn't pull my boat up some of the muddy hills we improvise as launches but it does fine with the stock tires. On shallow launch ramps, the pipes are under water by the time the boat floats off the trailer. I have pulled it all through the mountains and down the Denali Highway too. I can get 22-24 mpg towing this on flat ground if I drive nice. Overall Capacity: the overall towing capacity for the 2012 Ford Escape ranged from 1,000-3,500 pounds and really was only dependent upon the engine that you had equipped, for the most part. Pulls super smooth, with the 6 speed it downshifts almost perfectly so I never have to lay into the throttle to make it shift. If it's windy I can feel it for sure, but it gets about 18-19 mpg round trip towing about 70 mph and with no wind, I can barely tell it's back there. No issues at all, even blowing through deep fresh snow in unplowed lots (with a set of blizzaks on of course). I usually have a 30 gallon drum of race fuel for my turbo sled in there as well. I pull my 12 ft enclosed trailer with two long track sleds all through the mountains here in Alaska. Horrible gas mileage commuting and worse towing. Update on my towing.30,000 miles with about 75% towing.
